"Floating Memory uses hand stitching as a metaphor of time binding pieces of my family’s history. By patching together forty of my grandmother’s embroidered handkerchiefs, I am recreating a map of her memory and connecting it to the present. The fragile existence of memory is then symbolized by the precarious state of the handkerchief left floating like a wave in mid-air."
